NELP – Legal Presentation

by CBJC Staff May 21, 2020

Small business owners across NYC are invited to join the City Bar Justice Center’s Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project (NELP) and Cleary Gottlieb on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 2:00-3:00 PM for a Zoom webinar focused on contract issues arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Attorneys from Cleary Gottlieb, in collaboration with NELP, will provide: a brief overview of contract basics, including breach, remedies, and limitations on damages; an examination of key contractual provisions and concepts related to excusing performance, including force majeure, impossibility and frustration of purpose; and practical guidance for small business owners, including how to protect your rights and how to focus on practical results in negotiations with counterparties.  The informational presentation will be followed by an interactive Q&A session during which participants will be able to ask questions directly to presenters.
