Veterans Assistance Project: William Fassuliotis, Associate at Proskauer Rose LLP

The City Bar Justice Center’s Veterans Assistance Project, or “VAP,” provides New York City veterans experiencing poverty and facing systemic barriers with pro bono legal assistance on issues related to their claims for benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

William G. Fassuliotis, an Associate at Proskauer Rose LLP, has provided exemplary advocacy and representation on a few different matters with the Veterans Assistance Project since the beginning of December 2019.

William is currently working on two cases that are pending a decision from the VA – a Gulf War veteran seeking assistance with appealing the denial of his service connected disability claim for post-traumatic stress disorder due to military sexual trauma and physical conditions and Vietnam War veteran seeking assistance with increasing his disability rating for his knee injury he experienced as a paratrooper jumping out of helicopters. Both veterans have faced obstacles and barriers to their claims and needed assistance navigating the bureaucracy of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to obtain the benefits they deserve.

William proactively reaches out to VAP for support and engages with the CBJC team for guidance, demonstrating his curiosity and willingness to learn to best serve our clients. William is very thoughtful and intentional about his advocacy of veterans, and engages in open dialogue and exchange of ideas regarding his representation.

William, we thank you for the enthusiastic energy you bring to this work and for your relentless advocacy. Congratulations!
