The New York Bar Foundation Presents City Bar Justice Center Grant

The New York Bar Foundation recently presented a grant of $15,000 to the City Bar Justice Center. The grant will be used to support their Intergenerational Asset Preservation Initiative.

“We are immensely grateful for The New York Bar Foundation’s grant support to advance collaboration between the City Bar Justice Center’s Homeowner Stability Project and Planning & Estates Law Project in an initiative to help low to moderate income New Yorkers preserve assets – often in the form of home equity and/or estate interests – so that wealth, rather than poverty, is inherited between generations,” said Kurt M. Denk, Executive Director of the City Bar Justice Center. “The Foundation’s support will be a critical support for this unique initiative, and we appreciate the Foundation’s investment in our work, which last year benefited over 25,000 New Yorkers in need.”

Foundation grants help non-profit organizations provide law-related programs that help people with life- changing issues such as families facing homelessness, human trafficking survivors who struggle to find freedom, children in the midst of contentious custody battles, and so many more.

“The Foundation is a network of compassionate lawyers, dedicated board volunteers, and diverse legal organizations grounded in their commitment and passion to change lives,” said Carla M. Palumbo,

Foundation president. “We are dedicated to helping people access legal services and highlighting the good works of the legal profession.”

The Foundation recently allocated more than $558,000 in grants to eighty-four programs across New York State. Lucia Whisenand, chair of the Grants Review Committee, noted “The Grants Review Committee members review numerous applications from across the state to select non-profits who will use these grants to help make justice a reality for millions of people throughout New York State.”
