New York, April 16, 2025 – The City Bar Justice Center, a pro bono legal services affiliate of the New York City Bar Association, received renewed funding from the New York Bar Foundation. The grant supports the Justice Center’s Intergenerational Asset Preservation Initiative, a collaboration between the organization’s Homeowner Stability Project (HSP) and Planning and Estates Law Project (PELP).

“I offer our heartfelt thanks to the New York Bar Foundation,” said Justice Center Executive Director Kurt M. Denk. “The grant furthers our capacity to help low to moderate income New Yorkers preserve precious assets so that wealth, rather than poverty, is inherited between generations.”

The New York Bar Foundation grant program assists non-profit organizations with law-related projects across New York state that facilitate the delivery of civil legal services to those in need, improve the justice system and the law, enhance professional competence and ethics and increase public understanding of the law.

“Supporting the Foundation helps preserve a bedrock principle of our government – that everyone is entitled to equal access to justice,” said the Honorable Cheryl E. Chambers, Foundation President. “Without these vital programs that the Foundation and other charitable organizations support, justice would look very different for those who can afford an attorney than for those who cannot.”

The Foundation recently allocated more than $668,000 in grants to ninety-five programs across New York State.

“The non-profits that we support help make justice a reality for millions of people throughout New York State,” noted Lucia Whisenand, chair of the Grants Review Committee.

The New York Bar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. To learn more about the Foundation visit www.tnybf.org
