PRO BONO HEROES
Luba Jabsky, Barclays Capital
Since becoming a volunteer with the Cancer Advocacy Project’s life planning panel, Luba has distinguished herself by her readiness to work with homebound clients. Among the clients who have benefited from Luba’s dedication was a Russian-speaking client who was unable to travel due to cancer-related pain. An adverse test result meant that Luba had to wait and re-establish contact when the client was ready to proceed, and the life planning documents were completed by Luba at the client’s home.
Another case required Luba to do battle with a nursing facility in order to gain access to her client. She won the battle and the client completed her documents. In addition to taking cases, Luba is currently translating one of the CAP guides into Russian. In recognition of her invaluable contributions to the Project, the City Bar Justice Center presented Luba with a 2016 Jeremy G. Epstein Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service.
