PRO BONO HEROES

Elie J. Worenklein, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP

Elie Worenklein of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is an outstanding volunteer with the Consumer Bankruptcy Project, providing assistance to low-income debtors with filing for pro se Chapter 7 bankruptcy relief.  Elie’s dedication to pro bono service ensures that the Bankruptcy Project continues to provide indigent New Yorkers with legal assistance they couldn’t otherwise afford.  Since 2013, Elie has participated in the Bankruptcy Project’s monthly clinics, providing legal services, advice and assistance to over 10 clients seeking help with filing for consumer bankruptcy.  In addition to being a consistent and reliable volunteer himself, Elie has also recruited fellow associates to volunteer at monthly clinics.

The City Bar Justice Center awarded Elie with a Jeremy G. Epstein Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service in Fall 2016. The Consumer Bankruptcy Project thanks Elie for his dedication and compassion in providing pro bono services to low-income persons facing financial difficulty, for his contribution to the Project, and for his overall commitment to pro bono work.
